Decor Ideas & Inspiration
This design is a mix of Indian and Scandinavian interiors.
Indian interiors are bright and colourful while Scandinavian interiors are mostly neutral (also bright but muted), which creates a natural contrast in the overall design.
In this particular design, the furniture is Scandinavian style and to add an Indian touch warm earthy tones are used as an accent - browns, reds, yellows, greens.
The living room is open-style which means the dining area and kitchen are adjoined to the living area for sharing a casual and relaxed daily experience with family & friends.
Living, Dining Area & Kitchen
Indian Elements: vitrified tile flooring*, mythical wall painting in the dining area, rattan chandelier, cushion covers in earthy tones and ceramic leaf pattern tiles as backsplash in the kitchen.
Scandinavian Elements: furniture with clean lines made using light coloured wood and upholstered in neutral coloured fabric - sofa and dining chairs
Master Bedroom
Indian Elements: vitrified tile flooring*, mythical wall painting, floral bedding and rattan table lamps.
Scandinavian Elements: furniture with clean lines made using light coloured wood and upholstered in neutral coloured fabric - bed with headboard.
*When it comes to flooring options between these 2 styles, Scandinavian designs use wooden flooring in order to retain heat during winters, while Indian designs use vitrified or ceramic tiles or even natural stones like marble to keep the surface cool during summers.
So, select your flooring accordingly.
As always, remember, there are no hard and fast rules, have fun decorating your home!
