Decor Ideas & Inspiration

The construction materials used in this design are entirely Industrial style while the decor style is mainly Casual. This design is for a small-sized 2 bedrooms home measuring 16 feet x 40 feet (4.8 meters x 12 meters), so a similar layout could be envisioned for a shipping container home made by using 2 high-cube 40 feet containers.

A raw but polished look is highlighted in the spaces with concrete walls and ceiling. For a shipping container home, a similar look can be achieved by building a drywall and then applying concrete textured wallpaper on it.

Warmth has been added in the space by using wooden floors in a light colour and by decorating the home in a Casual style - using natural materials like wood, cane and rattan.

White upholstery is used throughout the home to add brightness and create a contrast against the grey interiors.

Living, Dining Area and Kitchen

Industrial Elements: concrete walls and ceiling, black metallic floor lamp, black glass bubbles chandelier, dark kitchen cabinets and island.

Casual Elements: rattan hanging flower pots, neutral coloured rug, rattan chandelier, white upholstery on sofa, wooden round table, wooden TV media unit, crochet wall hanging and light coloured wooden floor.

Master Bedroom

Industrial Elements: concrete walls and ceiling and black metallic ceiling lights.

Casual Elements: dried pampas grass in glass vase, jute rug, rattan wall hanging, clothes basket and chandelier, white wooden furniture, white upholstered bed with splashes of forest green and light coloured wooden floors.

Tip: Industrial style has a naturally cold vibe about it, so it is best paired with styles that add warmth in the space like Casual, Shabby Chic, Farmhouse, Bohemian, Cottage, Rustic etc.
