Design 20 - Indian X Mid-century Modern

Decor Ideas & Inspiration

Indian interiors are bright and colourful. The use of overlapping patterns, geometric shapes combined with nature-inspired designs like flowers and leaves is widely implemented in the upholstery. Furniture made of wood, bamboo and cane is common. Larger traditional Indian homes have both casual and formal seating spaces. Jhoolas (swing chair) are prevalent in the living area or in the outdoor space. Mid-century Modern style features geometric lines in architectural buildings and furniture. Tapered legs are commonly seen in furniture. The palette is usually neutral with accents in saturated pops of colours. It is a timeless style with streamlined pieces of furniture.
