Decor Ideas & Inspiration
This design focuses on Mediterranean architecture and interiors with a mix of Greek Cycladic and Moroccan interiors.
The rooms are spacious and airy. The base colour is white and is paired with 2 accent colours - Azure Blue which is predominantly found in Greek Cycladic architecture and Bright Pink which reminds of Bougainvillea flowers found in plenty on the Greek Cyclades Islands.
Both the accent colors tie in perfectly with Moroccan decor as they emphasise on richness and boldness. A feature that is common to both the styles is an arch - arched wall entrances and wall niches.
In this design 2 seating areas have been created adjacent to each other - one with low rise Moroccan style seating to maximise interaction with family and friends and other a casual Greek Mediterranean style seating which is more suitable to watch TV.
Living, Dining Area and Kitchen
Greek Cycladic Elements: arched door, stone walls and floors, wooden beam ceilings, dining set, hutch, sofa set, cane armchairs, rope armchairs, wooden kitchen cabinets
Moroccan Elements: arched niches, floor level seating with cushions and area rug, ceiling lights in the low rise seating section, flower vase next to the TV, TV unit, console table behind the sofa, backsplash tiles in the kitchen, pendant lights in the kitchen
Outdoor Area
Greek Cycladic Elements: stone flooring, outdoor dining area
Moroccan Elements: marble fountain, low rise outdoor seating
Tip: Moroccan decor is maximal in nature, it uses ornamental patterns on fabrics, Moorish wall arches and colorful tiles while Greek Cycladic style focuses on simplicity and functionality with a focus on natural materials like stone and wood. These 2 styles are opposite in nature, so while combining them in a space it is best to not overpower the other by creating a balance using neutral and bold colours.
As always, remember, there are no hard and fast rules, have fun decorating your home!
